About
We are seeking a meticulous and organized Receiving Clerk for our facility in Durham, North Carolina. As a Receiving Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for incoming shipments, responsible for accurately processing, inspecting, and documenting all goods received. This role is crucial for maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring the smooth flow of products into our warehouse. You will work closely with our logistics team to reconcile shipments against purchase orders, identify discrepancies, and ensure that all incoming materials meet our quality standards. A strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety are paramount in this position.
Responsibilities:
- Receive all incoming shipments from carriers, verifying quantities and item numbers against purchase orders.
- Inspect goods for any damage or defects and document findings appropriately.
- Accurately record received items into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Tag and label incoming inventory for proper storage and tracking.
- Communicate any receiving discrepancies, damages, or shortages to supervisors and relevant departments.
- Organize and stage received goods for distribution to appropriate warehouse areas.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and orderly receiving area, ensuring clear access and adherence to safety regulations.
- Assist with inventory cycle counts and other related duties as assigned.
- Follow all specific lifting and handling procedures for various types of goods within our logistics network.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in receiving, warehouse, or logistics roles is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using computer systems, including WMS and data entry.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Understanding of basic logistics and inventory control principles.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the proper use of PPE.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
