Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Assistant to enhance the quality of life for residents in our assisted living and long-term care community. The ideal candidate will plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging recreational activities tailored to residents' needs, including those with dementia, Alzheimer's, and other memory care challenges. This role requires excellent communication skills, creativity, and a genuine passion for senior care and social engagement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a variety of engaging activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being for residents.
- Assist with planning special events, outings, and therapeutic programs aligned with residents' interests and abilities.
- Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, including mobility assistance and personal care.
- Manage activity schedules to ensure a balanced and enjoyable program that meets individual needs.
- Foster a positive environment by encouraging participation while respecting residents' preferences and limitations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to tailor activities to individual care plans.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents during activities.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and resident feedback to improve programming quality.
Requirements
- Experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or long-term care preferred.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and senior recreational therapy is highly desirable.
- Background in event planning or working with people with disabilities is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect empathetically with seniors and their families.
- Experience assisting with ADLs and managing activity schedules effectively.
- Familiarity with aging issues counseling, social work principles, or caregiving roles is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to resident well-being.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing residents' quality of life through meaningful engagement.
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
