Job Description: Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist

Company: LINEV Systems US, Inc.
Location: Conroe, Texas

About Us

LINEV Systems US, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of checkpoint security X-ray systems. We are dedicated to providing innovative solutions that enhance security and safety in various environments. Our team in Conroe, Texas, is committed to excellence in engineering, product development, and customer service.

Role Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist to join our Production Team. This role is critical to strengthening our organizational foundation by transforming tribal knowledge into structured, accessible documentation.

The Technical Writer will be responsible for producing clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical materials, including training guides, troubleshooting manuals, and maintenance publications—that ensure consistency, efficiency, and long-term sustainability of our service operations.

This position is not only about writing, but also about building a robust knowledge library that reduces risk, accelerates technician troubleshooting and onboarding, and ensures LINEV Systems can perform consistently regardless of personnel changes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Documentation Development & Maintenance

  2. Create and maintain complete operations manuals, software manuals, and detailed maintenance manuals for all products.

  3. Develop step-by-step troubleshooting guides that evolve with field experience, ensuring technicians can isolate faults methodically.
  4. Validate and verify all procedures to the lowest component level, ensuring accuracy and usability.
  5. Organize and manage a centralized documentation library accessible to technicians and support staff.

  6. Technical Training Materials

  7. Develop training materials for internal staff and external clients, including multimedia content (videos, presentations, e-learning modules).

  8. Ensure training materials align with company standards and effectively communicate complex technical concepts.
  9. Support factory-level training initiatives by providing robust manuals that reduce reliance on costly in-person sessions.

  10. Review & Edit Technical Documentation

  11. Evaluate existing documents for clarity, coherence, and technical accuracy.

  12. Collaborate with engineers, service leads, and subject matter experts to ensure documents are technically sound and user-friendly.
  13. Continuously update manuals, user guides, and installation instructions.
  14. Include change and version control of all documentation and software releases

  15. Risk Mitigation & Knowledge Capture

  16. Reduce reliance on senior technicians' tribal knowledge by capturing and systematizing expertise.

  17. Ensure new hires can be effective in the field within one month through structured troubleshooting guides.
  18. Support continuity of operations by building documentation systems that perform independently of individual personnel.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in technical writing, preferably in the security or manufacturing industry.
  • Skills:
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong understanding of technical documentation standards and practices.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools (Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Office, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with X-ray technology or checkpoint security systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with CJIS Compliance standards – preferred.
  • Knowledge of graphic design and multimedia tools.

Why This Role Matters
