Position Description
The purpose of the Independent Living Skills Program Manager position is to provide necessary instruction, direction, and oversight in all aspects of staff implementation of training and maintain individuals' independence and safety in the community. Ensure daily operations, follow agency policies and philosophies, operational budget and guidelines and Regional Center policies. The Program Manager shall be aware that the consumers, as well as Thrive, are at-will employers, meaning that employment may be terminated at any time by the employer or employee with or without cause.
Qualifications And Requirements
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BA degree or equivalent in a human services delivery field preferred
- Minimum of three years' experience working with developmentally disabled adults. Prefer one year ILS experience, or special education teaching experience. OR;
- An appropriate combination of experience and education may be substituted for some part of the qualifications.
- Minimum of one year of administrative responsibility, including but not limited to: staff supervision, operational budgets, service design implementation, staff development and training, program evaluation and goal direction.
- Some evidence of competency of training in the areas we teach.
- Prefer behavioral training.
- Knowledge of Regional Center and Systems serving Developmentally Disabled, prefer behavioral training.
- Willingness to update any and all personnel certifications, clearances and reports as required by agency policy or DDS/RCEB requirements.
- TRANSPORTATION:
- Valid California driver's license
- Clean driving record (DMV printout required)
- Current vehicle registration and use of a vehicle in good running condition during work hours.
- Valid automobile insurance for that vehicle and all passengers that meets minimum coverage requirements of the agency (300,000/100,000 bodily injury/liability).
- OTHER:
- Pass criminal background check through DOJ fingerprint clearance.
- Pass pre-Employment Drug Screen and random drug test as required.
- The willingness and ability to perform all the essential functions of the job.
- The ability to work collaboratively with consumers and co-workers.
- An employment record of punctuality, good work attendance and reliability.
- You must provide an I-9, and proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
- ILS Program Manager will carry a case load of ILS Consumers when requested
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Preparation of teaching material Independent Living Skills Services Training
- Client session and programming accordance to their Individual Service Plan and training domains.
- Site training of individual clients in their home to train, teach and provide support in: money management, nutrition, cooking, comparison shopping, emergency procedures, community awareness, mobility, laundry procedures, household management, sex/public health education, medical procedures, counseling and crisis intervention, and housing.
- Supervision, managing and hiring ILS field staff.
- Scheduling of training in ratios determined by current vendorization, and in accordance with the least restrictive environment philosophy (1:1 staff: client ratio, unless otherwise specified.)
- Overseeing payroll and regional center billing process.
- Oversight coordination of client training programs with other programs with which they are involved.
- Compiling and reviewing Individual Service Plans as required by current regulation. Write semi-annual Progress Reports based on ISP submission.
- Ensuring completion of monthly Program Hours sheets, documentation of direct hours spent with clients and submission.
- Report suspected abuse or any unusual incident as indicated in the Thrive training Manual. This may include but is not limited to the following: any decline in consumer's health, medication abuse, or refusal, ability to successfully live in the community safely, willingness to receive services, or request for a new ILS instructor. Complete special incident report within 24 hours.
- Quality assurance of client files.
- Oversight of assistance of client coordination with other programs, services, and benefits systems, such as Social Security, AFDC, WIC, food stamps, counseling, Planned Parenthood, etc.
- Understand and convey in all interactions with clients and other agencies, the client centered philosophy of Thrive Support Services, Inc.
- Schedule and deliver, monthly staff meetings, and monthly individual meetings with staff.
- Supervision of ILS case managers to maintain the responsibilities of Thrive ILS program.
- Continue to abide by the requirements of the ILS Instructor job description when working with clients on case load.
- Market to agencies and schools regarding Thrive ILS Program several times per month.
- Curriculum writing as it corresponds to Thrives ILS services,
- Participate in Inter-Disciplinary Team meetings.
- Preform QA reviews.
- Monthly budget and department reports to Chief Operations Officer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Related Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend Interdisciplinary Team Meetings, Agency Team Meetings and all other meetings and training sessions as directed by the administration.
- Cooperate with other in home services, such as home health providers, physical therapists, home maintenance persons, natural supports, etc.
- Complete and submit Time Sheets, mileage and other compensation reports in a timely manner.
- Perform all duties in a safe manner. Always utilize Universal Precautions. Use proper body mechanics when lifting. Never lift, push, or pull over 50 pounds without assistance.
- Report workplace safety issues, consumer injuries, consumer threats to staff or self, potential liabilities, and worker injuries immediately to supervisor.
- Complete Thrive training curriculum and other trainings as prescribed by administration.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Abide by all agency policies and procedures as indicated in the Employee Handbook, Memorandums issued by company managers and Employee Training Manual.
