We are seeking a reliable, high-energy Kitchen Steward to maintain the cleanliness and organization of our culinary operations. This is a foundational role that ensures our chefs have the tools they need and our guests have pristine tableware. Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Efficiently wash, sanitize, and dry all glassware, silver, china, and kitchenware using industrial dishwashing machinery or manual three-sink methods.
- Safely handle and use cleaning chemicals and detergents according to WHMIS guidelines and resort safety standards.
- Promptly return clean pots, pans, and utensils to the appropriate kitchen stations to ensure the Line Cooks are never without essential tools.
- Empty kitchen trash, recycling, and compost bins throughout the shift. Clean and sanitize bins and ensure the outdoor waste area is kept tidy and secure
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors, walk-in coolers, and storage areas regularly to prevent slips, trips, and falls.
- Assist with scheduled deep-cleaning tasks, including scrubbing hoods, filters, ovens, and heavy-duty kitchen equipment.
- Maintain the "Dish Landing" area, ensuring servers stack items correctly to minimize breakage and maximize efficiency.
- Complying with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and GolfNorth Health & Safety program.
Qualifications:
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for long shifts, work in a hot/humid environment, and lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., full racks of plates or heavy pots).
- The ability to maintain a fast pace during "rush" periods without sacrificing cleanliness or safety.
- Punctuality is non-negotiable. Must be available for a variety of shifts, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required for all positions to ensure effective communication across the resort.
- Proficiency in French or other languages (e.g., German, Spanish, Mandarin) is considered a significant asset for customer-facing roles.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, balance, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), extended periods of standing
- Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.
