About

As our Float Medical Assistant you will provide high quality primary care as part of a patient care team in the outpatient setting. Among your responsibilities will be providing coverage other MA staff and Front Desk staff who are out of the office. Hours are generally M-F 8am-5pm although start and end times may vary slightly. You may work either one-on-one with a provider or as part of a team with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants with adult and possibly pediatric patients. The medical assistant is responsible for the initial patient assessment, prepping and assisting with exams and procedures, administering medications and vaccines under supervision of the provider, ensuring OSHA compliance, and providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage for other MA staff who are out of the office
  • Provider coverage for Front Desk staff who are out of the office
  • Interview patients and document basic medical history
  • Obtain and document vital signs
  • Prepare and assist with medical exams and procedures
  • Obtain, result, and coordinate point of care testing
  • Administer medications and vaccinations
  • Triage phone calls and act as communication liaison between providers and patients
  • Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments

ยท Keeps medical record organized and prepares chart for provider

Preferred Skills

  • Proven working experience as a medical assistant
  • Knowledge of essential functions of medical office systems and procedures
  • Knowledge of point of care lab testing and procedures
  • Skills to administer adult and pediatric immunizations
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records systems
  • Skill in operating various medical office equipment, such as EKG machine, pulse oximeter, nebulizer, spirometer, etc.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, most importantly patient financial and medical information
  • Flexibility in schedule
  • Ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively, and sensitively to special population groups as defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, etc.
  • Able to multitask and use time management skills to prioritize workflows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with accurate attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and planning skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $22.79 per hour
