Position Summary:The Driver will be responsible for safely operating a company-provided box truck to transport lithium batteries and related materials between facilities, suppliers, and customers. This position requires strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR), and hazardous material handling procedures.
Key Responsibilities:Safely operate a commercial box truck for local and regional deliveries and pickups.
- Load, secure, and unload lithium battery shipments in compliance with DOT and hazardous material handling requirements.
Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipping documents, and manifests for all transported materials.
Ensure all required documentation accompanies each shipment, including: - Shipping Papers / Bill of Lading (BOL)
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Hazardous Material (HazMat) Declaration
- Emergency Response Information
- Vehicle Inspection Reports (Pre- and Post-Trip)
Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety issues promptly.
Follow all company safety protocols, DOT regulations, and environmental compliance standards.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse, and customer service teams regarding delivery schedules and shipment status. - Assist with warehouse or logistics operations as needed.
- Minimum Age: 21 years or older.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience driving commercial vehicles (box trucks or larger).
Experience transporting hazardous materials or lithium batteries preferred.
- Licensing & Certifications:
- Valid state driver's license (CDL preferred but not required, depending on vehicle and load type).
- Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate - 49 CFR.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Knowledge Requirements:
Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
Familiarity with hazardous materials documentation and safe handling practices.
