System Engineer (m/f/d) - R&D

Your tasks:
  • Lead requirements gathering and define functional specifications, ensuring traceability to market needs and internal constraints.
  • Develop and maintain system architecture for new products, variants, and major evolutions, coordinating technical choices across disciplines.
  • Manage design and development phases from feasibility to pre-series, ensuring compliance with system-level requirements.
  • Drive resolution of complex technical issues and lead root cause analysis for quality and reliability improvements.
  • Oversee lifecycle management, including continuous improvement, cost reduction, and obsolescence handling.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external partners, ensuring alignment on priorities and technical solutions.
  • Apply systems engineering methods and contribute to process and tool improvements, ensuring complete and accurate documentation.
  • Provide technical support to Marketing, Sales, and After-Sales for critical projects and customer interactions.
Your profile:
  • Master's degree in Engineering (mechanical, mechatronics, electrical/electronic, physics, materials, software) or equivalent; Systems Engineering training is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial product development, ideally in complex systems (machinery, automation, printing/coding)
  • Proven experience in multidisciplinary projects involving mechanics, hydraulics, electronics, and software
  • Strong technical knowledge in areas such as hydraulics/fluid systems, electronics, physics, and materials behavior
  • Solid Systems Engineering skills: requirements management, system architecture, interface control, risk analysis, validation strategies
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and industrialization constraints; familiarity with CAD, simulation tools, PLM, and requirements management tools
  • Knowledge and practices of AI tools is an asset
  • Reliable, structured, and autonomous working style with strong sense of responsibility for product performance
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to coordinate and influence without direct authority
  • Decision-making ability and resilience in complex, ambiguous situations; results-oriented mindset
  • Fluent in English; position based in Tuttlingen with occasional travel
