We're seeking an experienced and motivated Human Resources Generalist (HRG) who supports the organization by delivering comprehensive human resources services, including talent acquisition, onboarding, compensation and benefits, training, employee relations, compliance, and workforce planning. This role partners with leaders to foster a positive culture and ensure alignment with company values.
This positions reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and requires a proactive professional who will thrive in a busy and high paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide coaching and guidance to employees and leaders on HR topics such as recruitment, performance management, policy interpretation, and employee relations.
- Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, resume screening, interviews, reference checks, and offer negotiations.
- Conduct onboarding and orientation sessions for new recruits.
- Administer payroll adjustments and maintain system accuracy.
- Advise on company policies and proactively recommend improvements to internal processes.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to policy violations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee data in HRMS systems.
- Interpret and apply legislative requirements, including Human Rights and the Alberta Employment Standards Act, to provide accurate guidance on agreements and policies for managers, employees, and contractors. Experience with USA employment legislation is considered a strong asset.
- Facilitate international employee mobility by overseeing immigration processes and ensuring compliance with all requirements.
- Oversee training programs and support employee development initiatives.
- Lead compensation and benefits strategies, including regular reviews.
- Foster strong employee relations and promote a positive workplace culture across all locations.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Diagnose organizational challenges, propose solutions, and partner with managers to execute action plans.
- Support change management initiatives and communication strategies.
- Collaborate with leadership to improve engagement, morale, and retention.
- Provide guidance on workforce planning and succession strategies.
- Build partnerships between management and employees to strengthen collaboration.
- Deliver expert HR advice and recommendations to influence decision-making.
- Monitor and evaluate HR metrics to optimize productivity and performance.
- Complete special projects and other assigned duties.
- Comply with occupational health and safety policies, quality management standards, and company ethics guidelines.
- Successfully complete level 1 Fit for Work assessment – an evaluation of flexibility, back fitness, strength, and cardio.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and commitment to delivering exceptional service.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with HRMS systems is an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Skilled in facilitation, mediation, and interviewing, fostering collaborative relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- CPHR designation or active candidacy preferred.
- Results-oriented mindset with a focus on measurable outcomes.
- Ability to manage competing priorities using data-driven tools and processes.
- Self-motivated and accountable for achieving results, even in team settings without direct authority.
- Committed to continuous learning and technical development to stay current in HR best practices.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all deliverables.
- Strong team player who values collaboration and leverages group problem-solving for optimal results.
- Handle sensitive information and materials with discretion, professionalism, and strict confidentiality.
