Job Overview:

We are a small but growing architectural and engineering firm seeking an experienced Intermediate Structural Engineer to assist our Vaughan Office.

The role involves structural design and analysis for small- to mid-scale buildings, including both new construction and the renovation of existing structures. You'll collaborate closely with CAD/BIM technologists and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform structural calculations and design for steel, timber, masonry, and concrete elements and systems.

  • Analyze and assess existing building structures and design reinforcements as required.
  • Prepare design briefs, sketches, and markups for CAD/BIM staff.
  • Review and coordinate structural drawings for permit and construction.
  • Participate in coordination with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines as needed.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master's preferred but not required).
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with PEO in good standing.
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in structural engineering design and analysis.
  • Sound knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Steel/Concrete/Masonry/Wood design codes.
  • Proficient in structural design software such as STAAD and RAM Structural System.
  • Experienced in the analysis and design of:
  • Steel framing systems with metal deck, owsj, gerber girders, and column/footing design.
  • Structural reinforcement of existing buildings including steel retrofits and concrete detailing.
  • One-way/two-way concrete slabs on concrete beams and columns
  • Retaining wall systems and foundations including caissons, piles, spread footings
  • Equipment platforms and access structures
  • Masonry block wall buildings including gravity and shear walls.

Nice to Have:

  • Previous experience working in a small firm or consulting environment.
  • Comfort working independently with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively across multiple tasks or projects.

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
