Job Description

Hybrid in the Greater Toronto Area (1-4x a month in office)

We are seeking a hands-on IT System Administrator responsible for managing the onboarding and offboarding of employees and acquired resources while ensuring system security, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role will require a proactive approach to server and endpoint maintenance, security patching, and compliance with GRC standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in IT administration, security best practices, and penetration testing of existing applications to identify vulnerabilities and improve security posture.

The IT System Administrator will play a key role in maintaining the IBMi system, as well as managing Windows, Linux, and cloud environments to ensure all IT assets are secured, updated, and fully functional. This position requires someone who can work independently, troubleshoot complex IT issues, and support a dynamic IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Onboarding & Offboarding:

End User Support: Manage IT setup for new hires, both internal and through acquisitions.

Provision, configure, and deprovision user accounts, access, and system credentials.

Ensure seamless offboarding, including asset retrieval and data security.

System Maintenance & Security:

Monitor, update, and patch servers, workstations, and other IT assets to maintain security and performance.

Conduct penetration testing and security assessments of existing applications to identify vulnerabilities.

Ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and best practices.

Manage endpoint security solutions, including antivirus, encryption, and firewalls.

Compliance & Governance (GRC):

Ensure IT systems adhere to company security policies and compliance frameworks.

Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.

Maintain accurate inventory and access control records.

General IT Administration:

Troubleshoot and resolve IT system issues proactively.

Manage software installations, updates, and configurations.

Collaborate with other IT team members to improve IT operations.

Automate repetitive tasks where possible to improve efficiency.

Requirements

Technical Skills & Experience:

3+ years of hands-on experience in IT system administration, preferably in a fast-paced environment.

Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, and macOS environments.

Experience managing Active Directory, Azure AD, and other IAM solutions.

Proficiency in patch management and endpoint security solutions.

Hands-on experience with GRC frameworks, IT compliance, and security best practices.

Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.

IBM i administration experience, including system maintenance, security updates, and user management.

Experience conducting penetration testing and vulnerability assessments on applications and IT systems.
