Part-time Security Guard - Downtown Mission
Site Description:
Downtown Mission is a faith-based non-profit providing shelter, meals, and support services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Expect high foot traffic, vulnerable populations, and occasional crisis situations.
Position: Part-Time Security Guard
Site: Downtown Mission, 875 Ouellette Ave.
Shifts: Sat/Sun
Payrate: $18.35

Key Responsibilities:
- Be able to keep an open and objective mind, remembering the city's diverse community.
- Assist visitors, and employee during crisis and contact the necessary emergency services as needed
- Ensure that the property is safe by ensuring all security measures are functioning properly
- Enthusiastically conducts proactive patrols (exterior and Interior), and be able to address policy breeches, and note facility concerns.
- Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner as not to create a panic amongst the public
- Ability to de-escalate a crisis, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including; police, fire and paramedic resources.
- Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries
- Ability to provide first aid and medical response when required to any person
- Maintain positive and constructive relationships with The Client's staff and external clients by providing timely and accurate support as required.
- Perform duties and tasks assigned by the Security Leadership team and respond to the directions of the client; City of Windsor
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the city
Prerequisites:
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- 3 Years of experience in security is required
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
