The Royal Victoria Yacht Club (RVYC) requires a Member Relations & Communications Coordinator to work in an exciting and vibrant environment. The RVYC has over 1400 members who are passionate about yachting, are keen volunteers and love their Club.
Position: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: $27-$30
Hours: hours weekly, varied shifts during Club hours, some evenings and weekends

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Member Relations & Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing communications and graphics to inform and engage RVYC members in the many activities and services available to Club members. This includes working closely with the Club Administrator and other staff, Chairs of volunteer Program Committees, and members. The position plays a significant role in producing communications products such as a weekly newsletter, Club Annual, social media, and keeping information current on the Club's website.
The work environment requires flexibility, self-motivation, and meeting tight deadlines.
Member Relations
· ● Provide a welcoming environment for new and potential new members by describing benefits of membership, providing tours, and following up to ensure new members are oriented and enjoying all amenities and offerings of the Club;
● Preparing and maintaining records of membership ballots and billing details, ensuring timely and precise communication with the accounting department;
● Facilitate communications among Program Committees;
● Maintain RVYC's public social media presence such as the RVYC webpage, and platforms such as Facebook and Instagram;
● Prepare and distribute media releases and information under the direction of the General Manager with input from applicable Chairs of Program Committees;
● Promote advertising, where applicable, in Club media such as the Annual;
Support for Member Satisfaction
● Support to the volunteer led Membership Committee to enhance member satisfaction;
● Conduct data driven analysis of member needs and program opportunities analysis utilizing the Jonas club management system and Google Analytics reports;
Communications Support
● Work with Program Committee Chairs to develop content and deliver consistent member communications through the weekly Jibsheet, Club Annual, handbooks, brochures, Club website, and other print and digital materials;
● Collect and manage digital photographs from members representing the Club's diverse events and activities, review images for quality, and support the Communications Committee in selecting photos that effectively tell member stories for the Jibsheet, the Sunday Events Newsletter, and the Club Annual;
● Oversee the design and production of posters, banners, and other promotional materials, including coordination with commercial printers;
● Develop and coordinate promotional content for Food & Beverage menus and services in collaboration with the Food & Beverage Department;
● Provide other graphic design assistance as required;
● Create and manage a weekly cadence of short-form video content for Reels and Facebook Shorts;
Office Administration
Provide administrative support where required, including backup to the Club Administrator during peak workloads, vacation coverage, sick relief, and for special projects;
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training
● Bachelors/ Masters in Communications or Public Relations;
● Training in business development and marketing training;
● Training in office administration is required;
● Highly competent in graphic design, social media engagement and website design;
● Highly competent in use of programs such as MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Publisher, InDesign, Canva and MailChimp;
● Experience with Jonas Club Management software preferred;
