Job Overview
Lor-Don Limited is a discrete custom metal fabrication contractor with enormous capabilities and expertise. The Machine Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining machine programs to produce high-quality parts safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This role collaborates with engineering, estimating, and shop operations to translate drawings/models into accurate CNC programs, improve cycle times, and support continuous improvement on the production floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, prove out, and revise CNC programs for production equipment
- Program parts for Strippit CNC punch using STRIKER SS-Punch software
- Program and nest parts for Bystronic CNC laser using Bysoft 7 software
- Interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, specs, and 3D CAD models to determine machining strategy, tooling, fixtures, and setups.
- Perform simulation and verification (CAM/software) to ensure collision-free, efficient programs.
- Support first-article runs and troubleshoot machining issues at the machine with operators.
- Optimize programs to reduce cycle time, scrap, and rework while maintaining tolerance and finish requirements.
- Maintain program/version control and documentation per internal standards.
- Work with maintenance and operations to improve machine reliability and repeatability.
- Contribute to process improvement, standardization, and best-practice development.
- Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/Certificate in CNC Programming, Machining, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience programming CNC machines in a production environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
- Solid knowledge of machining processes, tooling, feeds/speeds, and work holding.
- Experience with setup support, prove-outs, and shop-floor troubleshooting.
- Comfortable working with ERP/MRP or job-tracking systems.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-axis machining or advanced automation.
- Familiarity with stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, or specialty alloys.
- Exposure to manufacturing / continuous improvement.
- Experience designing fixtures or supporting tooling procurement.
- Knowledge of quality systems and inspection methods.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00-$71,500.00 per year
