About the Role
The short version: They need a player-coach. Someone who can set architecture, ship with discipline, and make the team around them better. You'll lead by example, write code alongside the team, and translate business problems into systems that last. No lone geniuses. They want generous engineers who make everyone sharper.
Responsibilities
- Technical leadership (about 40% of your time)
- Define architecture, stack decisions, and coding standards.
- Review code for maintainability, scalability, and security.
- Unblock gnarly problems.
Improve tooling and workflows so the team moves faster without cutting corners.
Project and delivery (20%)
- Turn fuzzy business goals into actionable plans with realistic estimates.
- Work with Product to prioritize for impact.
Spot risks early and propose real mitigation.
Operations and reliability (20%)
- Own deployment environments and pipelines.
- Push for automation by default.
- Champion security best practices.
Be the escalation point when things get weird.
Client-facing work (10%)
- Join key conversations to align feasibility with outcomes.
- Scope solutions and communicate trade-offs clearly.
Build trust through honest, crisp updates.
Strategy and innovation (10%)
- Explore emerging tech, including practical AI/LLM applications.
- Contribute to technical roadmaps and company growth.
Qualifications
7+ years building software with modern stacks. 3+ years leading or architecting.
Required Skills
- Frontend: React or equivalent. TypeScript preferred. React Native is a plus.
- Backend: , Ruby on Rails, .NET, or similar.
- Cloud: AWS (S3, EC2, Lambda). GCP/Azure familiarity is a bonus.
- AI-assisted dev: Comfortable with tools like Cursor, Windsurf, or Cline.
Preferred Skills
Bonus points for data pipelines, event-driven architectures, containerization, or IaC. Beyond the tech, they care about mentorship, clear communication, and the ability to balance client needs with engineering realities.
Pay range and compensation package
