With a strong safety culture and a commitment to operational excellence, we are seeking a skilled Manufacturing General Foreman to support our Canadian operations.
About the Role
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of manufacturing and fabrication activities, ensuring safe execution, on-time delivery, and alignment with STATS' quality standards. This leadership role involves managing teams across fabrication, production, QC, and welding (including field welders), while driving continuous improvement, resource planning, and operational excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesFabrication Shop Management
- Lead day-to-day fabrication shop activities including manpower planning, scheduling, production coordination, and workflow optimization.
- Improve and maintain procedures, work instructions, and forms related to fabrication.
- Oversee equipment needs and future capability planning.
- Manage welding manpower levels, subcontractors, and support field welding activities.
Production Management
- Coordinate production planning, procurement support, and subcontracting activities.
- Monitor procurement and production timelines to meet project schedules.
- Implement productivity, performance, and cost optimization strategies.
Quality Control (QC) Management
- Manage and coordinate QC team activities including inspection and subcontracted QC services (e.g., PWHT, NDE).
- Maintain and improve QC procedures, documentation, and quality assurance practices.
Training & Development
- Implement training and certification programs for shop, production, and QC teams.
- Assess skill gaps and support continuous learning and improvement.
- Collaborate with HR and the General Manager on talent development and hiring needs.
Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Identify and track key performance indicators (KPIs) across fabrication, procurement, and QC.
- Produce operational performance reports and support corrective action initiatives.
- Lead resource management including manpower, equipment, and materials planning.
Quality & Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with STATS and client quality, safety, and environmental management systems.
- Ensure immediate reporting and documentation of incidents, near misses, and hazards.
Experience & Competencies
- Previous leadership experience in manufacturing or fabrication environments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership ability with experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Technical proficiency in manufacturing processes (drawings, blueprints, CAD/CAM).
- Strong capability in Microsoft Excel and other industry software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Related work experience considered as equivalent.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and shop operations is required.
