*Senior Software Test Engineer (Hybrid – Cincinnati, OH)*
*Employment Type:* Contract through Callibrity (potential for full-time hire with Callibrity)
*Work Model:* Hybrid – must reside within commuting distance to Cincinnati, OH
*Authorization:* Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
*Pay:* $55/hr – $75/hr (W2, no benefits)
*About Callibrity*
Callibrity is a developer-owned and managed custom software consulting company headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. We build modern, high-quality software solutions that deliver measurable business value across a wide range of industries.
We’re problem solvers, creators, and collaborators. Our teams thrive on modern tech stacks, complex challenges, and the kind of engineering culture where craftsmanship and continuous learning come first.
This opportunity supports one of our clients, but you will be employed by Callibrity as a W2 contractor with a strong possibility of future conversion to a full-time Callibrity consultant.
*About the Role: Senior Software Test Engineer*
We’re seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer who is diligent, analytical, and passionate about improving product quality from end to end. In this role, you will work closely with our software engineering teams to craft, maintain, and evolve scalable, reliable testing frameworks and processes.
You’ll take ownership of test inventory, strengthen test strategies, and help prevent poor user experiences by actively challenging assumptions and identifying quality risks early. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys functional testing, debugging, exploratory testing, and contributing to the broader quality culture of the team.
What You’ll Do
* Work on problems of diverse scope and perform detailed analysis where required
* Take ownership of test coverage, test inventory, and overall test quality
* Independently design, develop, and execute test plans for complex features
* Build and maintain end-to-end test scenarios across multiple product components
* Conduct exploratory and ad-hoc testing without step-by-step guidance
* Troubleshoot and triage product issues, collaborating with engineers and PMs
* Support automation engineers by providing functional insights and test scenarios
* Assist with identifying and diagnosing automation failures
* Build and maintain test environments and test data as needed
* Mentor junior team members and contribute to QA standards and best practices
*Structure & Ownership*
You should be a self-starter who can move work forward without needing heavy process support. You’ll do well here if you’re comfortable operating in a lean environment where the team shares responsibility for planning and execution.
*Strong Testing Mindset (Beyond Validation)*
We’re looking for a broad quality mindset—not just “does it work,” but “how might it fail.” Ideally, you’ll bring experience with:
* *BDD (Behavior-Driven Development):* Understanding the user journey and defining test coverage around real behaviors and outcomes
* *Regression & Exploratory Testing:* Going beyond scripted steps and actively trying to break the system in ways others may not anticipate
* *Integration/API Testing:* Comfort looking under the hood (e.g., Postman, browser DevTools) to trace how data moves between systems—not just validating the UI
* *Edge Case Analysis:* A natural instinct for “what if?” thinking, complex scenarios, and failure modes
Other Qualifications
* 5+ years of professional experience testing web applications
* Experience with test frameworks, programming languages, and automation tools (Selenium, Jest, JUnit, CodeceptJS, JavaScript)
* Understanding of software development lifecycles, QA methodologies, and testing processes
* Experience testing APIs and working with relational/non-relational databases
* Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
* Ability to debug issues and assist in root-cause analysis
* Strong sense of ownership, independence, and accountability
* Familiarity with CI/CD systems and modern release pipelines
* Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or equivalent experience
Why Work With Callibrity

* Highly collaborative, low-ego environment focused on problem solving
* Meaningful and impactful client-facing work
* “Small company feel” backed by a stable, award-winning organization
