About

Sheffield / Hybrid (2-3 days per week in office). Multinational Financial Services. Are you a Senior DevOps or Systems Engineer with extensive experience managing complex cloud environments at scale? Do you have a deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code and the ability to automate complex deployments in highly regulated sectors? Are you interested in a role that bridges the gap between core infrastructure engineering and the latest advancements in AI and Large Language Models? My client is a leading global financial institution looking for a Technical SME to join their cloud engineering division in Sheffield on a long-term contract basis. This is an opportunity to work within a sophisticated technical landscape where security and compliance are paramount, but where innovation—particularly in the AI space—is actively encouraged. You will be instrumental in designing automated solutions that ensure their cloud footprint remains resilient, scalable, and ahead of the curve. As the successful candidate:
You will act as a technical authority, designing and building automated cloud solutions to solve intricate infrastructure challenges. You will take ownership of the Azure environment, managing everything from core networking and private endpoints to high-performance application deployments. You'll be at the forefront of modernising the bank’s capabilities by integrating AI services and developing strategies for LLM implementation. Working closely with principal architects, you will help evolve the technical roadmap, ensuring all custom builds meet rigorous global security and regulatory standards. You will champion a culture of continuous assessment, identifying potential weaknesses in the control plane and advocating for robust cybersecurity practices. The ideal candidate:
Enterprise Experience
– Proven track record in a large-scale, complex data centre or cloud environment (FinTech or Banking background is highly desirable). Azure Expert
– Deep technical knowledge of Azure App Services, Virtual Machines, and Storage is essential. Automation & IaC
– Highly proficient in Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates to manage infrastructure at scale. Developer Mindset
– Strong scripting and programming skills, particularly in Python for Azure Functions, alongside PowerShell or Bash. Pipeline Management
– Expert at building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines within Azure DevOps to support efficient software delivery. Security & Governance
– Comfortable working within strict regulatory frameworks and committed to maintaining high cybersecurity standards.
