About
The marketing and communications intern works in TxDOT's Communications Division and will support content development, planning, and operations for multiple outreach initiatives, communications projects, events, and campaigns. Works alongside project managers and content producers from the media production, brand, design and UX, and web services branches. The work entails support on content ideation through the production and operations processes.
Essential Duties:- Support project managers and content creators with meeting logistics, client and team communication, timelines, organization, digital file management and accessibility compliance
- Create project management plans and develop production timelines in
- Brainstorm and develop written content, including PowerPoint presentations, social media posts, communications toolkits, video scripts, magazine articles, outreach emails and web copy
- Copyedit campaign materials and draft strategic creative and project briefs for various outreach activities
- Assist with events from creative planning through production and execution
- Support process improvement projects and programs that align with Creative Services strategic objectives
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders and clients
- Support project operations, including budgets, procurements, equipment, supplies and inventory
- Other duties as assigned
Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution.
Other Conditions:Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school.
Preference for marketing & communications, business or English/literature majors.
- Excellent organizational, project planning, presentation, and time management skills with careful attention to detail
- Excellent writing skills: proficiency in AP style, short and long-form writing, editing, editorial planning, strategy and more
- Excellent tech- proficient skills using Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Planner, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Forms
- Demonstrated the ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including customer service and presentation skills
Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
Sitting - prolonged periods of time

Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
