Net Backend Developer

BNL Consulting is seeking an experienced .NET Backend Developer to support, maintain, and integrate an existing .NET-based component into a larger enterprise framework. This role is focused on ensuring that the existing functionality operates reliably, aligns with enterprise standards, and integrates cleanly with other systems—without rearchitecting or modernizing the core design.

This position is a strong fit for a backend engineer who excels in .NET/C#, understands event-driven design patterns, and is comfortable working within complex, well-established enterprise environments.

You'll be part of a collaborative remote engineering team working closely with architects, developers, and product owners to ensure this backend service functions effectively as part of the broader platform. Work is aligned to Eastern Time Zone (EST) hours, and candidates must be located within the continental U.S.

This is a 1099 position. The expected contract length is now through March 2026, with a possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

• Support, maintain, and enhance an existing .NET / C# backend service
• Integrate the service cleanly into a broader enterprise framework
• Build and maintain event-driven components that interact with Kafka
• Develop, tune, and troubleshoot SQL queries in PostgreSQL
• Improve reliability, stability, and performance of existing functionality
• Troubleshoot issues and identify integration impacts across systems
• Document service behavior, integration points, and technical workflows
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint activities
• Ensure backend work aligns with enterprise security, reliability, and performance standards

The Must-Haves

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience
• Strong expertise with .NET / C#
• Hands-on experience with:
• Kafka (producers, consumers, event-streaming patterns)
• PostgreSQL (SQL, schema design, optimization)
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and backend integration patterns
• Experience in structured Agile teams
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills

The Nice-to-Haves

• Experience deploying or troubleshooting backend services in Kubernetes
• Familiarity with Azure or AWS cloud environments
• Experience integrating existing services into enterprise ecosystems
• Knowledge of observability or performance monitoring tools
