About

The Production Control Junior Supervisor is responsible for managing the flow of Manufacturing Orders (MOs) throughout the facility to ensure timely completion, accuracy, and full traceability. This role translates the Production Schedule and Inventory requirements into MOs within the ERP system, while also overseeing the control and management of raw materials and work-in-progress (WIP) inventory.

Additionally, the Production Control Junior Supervisor maintains oversight of the label room, including label control processes and usage tracking. The position reports to the Production Manager and provides direction, coaching, and training to a team of two or more clerical and inventory staff. This role will also be trained to serve as a backup for the Production Planning Senior Supervisor.

This is a blended office-and-production-floor position within a refrigerated, GMP-regulated environment, requiring approximately 50% floor presence and 50% office work. The ideal candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs, which may include early morning start times, 2nd shift coverage, Saturday hours, and occasional holiday work.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews the daily Production Plan, typically during early morning hours (approximately 4:00–5:00 AM), with flexibility based on evolving operational needs.
  • Evaluates raw materials and WIP inventory levels each day, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Interprets the Production Plan and inventory status to determine required Manufacturing Orders (MOs) and prepares them accurately, either manually or through batch upload.
  • Monitors MO progress throughout the day and creates additional orders as needed to support production requirements.
  • Follows up on repack MOs to ensure they are accurately processed and completed.
  • Collaborates closely with the Production Systems Analyst to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to MO closure.
  • Partners with the Production Systems Analyst to investigate and address raw material lot discrepancies.
  • Maintains accurate daily physical inventory for both raw materials and WIP, reviewing and correcting variances to ensure system integrity.
  • Ensures all WIP inventory is properly labeled and identifiable at all times to support traceability and compliance.
  • Oversees label inventory and controls for the Production Label Room, ensuring accurate usage and secure storage.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrates exceptional reliability and dependability, with consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Able to work on feet for extended periods in a cold, wet production environment.
  • Flexible schedule required—must be able to start early mornings (4:00–5:00 AM) and support occasional 2nd shift work, Saturdays, and holidays based on business needs.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills (verbal and written) to ensure clear direction regarding daily manufacturing orders.
  • Proficient math skills, including basic algebra, to perform accurate, real-time calculations related to material yields and production processes.
  • Foundational knowledge of inventory management, including physical counts, rotation, and coverage.
  • Strong sense of urgency and excellent time-management skills in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Able to receive and provide constructive feedback in a professional and effective manner.
  • Collaborates well across departments, facilities, and divisions within Mowi.
  • Capable of directing and coordinating the work of two clerical team members.
  • Technical proficiency including intermediate Excel (pivot tables, filters, formulas), Excel upload tools, basic Power BI, and intermediate-level ERP knowledge, including experience with master data.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Education

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of relevant work experience preferred.
