Elementary Teacher

Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Elementary Teacher for a mixed-age classroom, grades 4/5/6, to join our small team of professionals. We are a new school with small classroom sizes (5 students in this group), offering easy morning hours (no lunch or recess duties)in a beautiful school space. This position requires prior elementary experience teaching in a classroom setting (not an afterschool, or a pre-school). A retired teacher or a new mom looking to still be at home for part of the time, are encouraged to apply. The hours are part-time, 8:30-11:30 on Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday-Friday 8:30-11:00. Our school is affiliated with the Chinese Cultural Center, but you do not need to know any Chinese. This position is for English Literacy, History, Grammar, and Social Studies. Our students learn Chinese language and math in the afternoons with a new team of teachers.

Responsibilities:
Develop and implement age-appropriate and engaging curriculum in Reading, Writing, Social Studies, and Science for a mixed-age classroom, grades 4/5/6.

Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, where students treat each other in a kind and considerate way
Assess and monitor the progress of each child, both formally and informally, and maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and other relevant information.
Create meaningful relationships with parents and caregivers regarding their student's development and progress,

Collaborate with other teachers and staff

Have the ability to differentiate lessons for multiple groups of learners

Attend monthly staff meetings, write bi-weekly newsletters, hold conferences and write report cards.

Experience:
- Previous experience working with elementary aged children is required

• Experience creating unique and engaging curriculum
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to effectively educate, engage, and inspire young learners
