Stamford Health has an opportunity for a per diem Sterile Processing Tech
The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and high-level disinfection of all reusable medical instrumentation. Maintains high standards consistency and continuous product flow between the OR, end user clinics, hospital departments & Sterile Processing. Responsible for maintaining adequate supply levels in sterile storage area, rotating stock as appropriate pulling case carts for the daily surgical schedule.
Responsibilities:
Decontamination Of surgical instruments.
Maintains communication with customers, departments regarding requests and delivery of sterile supplies.
Promotes best practice by demonstrating a commitment to quality patient care.
Performs assigned duties to maintain, unit in a state of survey readiness and maintain quality initiatives. For example, quality control measures, emergency equipment checks, and department cleanliness.
Uses the computerized instrument tracking system in the performance of assigned duties, obtaining instrument count sheets, obtaining special handling instructions for instrumentation documenting sterilization loads, and other assigned tasks.
Adheres to unit programs to support patient care such as maintaining a quiet environment and customer service.
Efficient and punctual distribution of case carts, equipment, and stat supplies to the OR and Maintain sterility and or cleanliness according to hospital protocol.
Case cart preparation for surgical procedures.
Tests operational efficiency of Instrumentation prior to reprocessing and reports problems to CSP Manager.
Maintains a clean and orderly central processing area (e.g., shelves, counters, equipment)
Functions independently according to job responsibilities and within scope of practice utilizing current standards of care.
Completes annual competency and other required education as assigned.
Attends all mandatory in-services, staff meetings, and participates in emergency drills.
Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and Mission and Value Statement"
Pick up & Transports equipment to and from clinics.
Keeps management informed of any malfunctions in instruments, equipment, and supplies.
Supports the center's mission by providing flexibility in assignment changes. Dependability in attendance, punctuality, timely completion of assignments.
Maintains a professional image through proper attire, language, and conduct.
Demonstrates appropriate aseptic techniques as indicated by interventions (hand hygiene, and equipment preparation)
Performs required quality controls e.g., Bowie Dick, Biological Monitoring, Tosi Test, and Sonic Check.
Follows Universal Precautions by wearing the appropriate protective attire while working in decontamination.
Demonstrates awareness of appropriate sterilization method needed for different instruments in accordance with manufacturer's instructions (IFU).
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-2 years experience as a Sterile Processing Tech is required.
- Certification in Central Sterile Processing Preferred (IAHCSMM OR CBSPD)
