Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Are you passionate about animal care and ready to make a difference in a thriving veterinary environment? Quail Meadow Animal Hospital, a reputable single-doctor privately owned hospital, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team

We are looking for veterinary staff with very outgoing, responsible and motivated personalities. Technicians will be cross-trained through hospital duties and schedule through these duties will/may be rotating.

Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service and support to clients.
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage client interactions according to hospital protocols.
• Gather and record accurate patient history from clients.
• Work collaboratively and respectfully with the team, even under high-stress situations.
• Restrain and handle patients of all sizes with compassion.
• Draw blood, place IV catheters, and administer SQ injections.
• Administer IV fluids and medications comfortably.
• Follow hospital protocols for routine vaccinations, deworming, and other treatments.
• Utilize medical terminology effectively, including routes of administration, frequency, and concentrations.
• Maintain accurate medical records using appropriate vocabulary.
• Familiarity with prescription medications, pet food, and legal requirements for prescriptions.
• Discuss financial responsibilities with pet owners respectfully.
• Monitor patients under sedation or anesthesia and assist in surgical, medical, or dental procedures.
• Observe and alert the veterinarian to changes in patient health during hospitalization.
• Collect patient samples for laboratory testing and manage sample preparation for shipping.
• Assist in keeping all areas of the hospital clean and organized.

Qualifications:

• Flexible schedule with availability for varying work weeks hours per week).
• Client service oriented with excellent communication skills.
• Must be 18 years or older with a minimum high school diploma.
• At least 2 years of experience in veterinary medicine required.
• CVT or LVT certification is a plus.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
• Comfortable with computers and tablets.
• Must be respectful and calm in all situations.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs or more (assistance provided for heavier loads).
• Capable of standing and walking for long periods, and working from kneeling or bent positions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with doctors, other technicians, and clients.

Compensation:

• Competitive pay, dependent on experience.
