About
We have an immediate opening for a Material Handler in our Kansas City, Missouri logistics center. As a Material Handler, you will be a crucial part of our warehouse operations, responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the facility. Your duties will include receiving and unloading incoming goods, transporting materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment, and staging items for shipping or storage. You will also assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and maintaining accurate records. A strong commitment to safety is paramount; you must adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow safe lifting practices. The ideal candidate will be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects. This role is fundamental to the smooth functioning of our logistics and distribution network, and offers a stable work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Transport materials to designated storage locations or production areas.
- Stage materials for outgoing shipments or further processing.
- Assist with inventory counts and record keeping.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including the use of PPE.
- Identify and report any damaged materials or safety hazards.
- Perform general warehouse tasks as assigned.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet operational demands.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a material handler or in a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Certification and experience operating forklifts or other powered industrial trucks is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 60 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and safety procedures.
- Basic knowledge of logistics principles.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the willingness to use required PPE.
