We are seeking a skilled and experienced Material Handler for our major logistics hub in Chicago, Illinois. This role is essential for managing the movement of goods within our facility, ensuring efficient operations and inventory accuracy. As a Material Handler, you will operate various types of equipment to move, store, and retrieve materials. Your commitment to safety and efficiency is key to our success. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage areas, production lines, or shipping docks.
- Organize and maintain inventory in warehouse locations, ensuring proper placement and stock rotation.
- Receive incoming materials and verify quantities against shipping documents.
- Assist with inventory counts, stocktaking, and cycle counts.
- Identify and report damaged materials or equipment issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, with a focus on safety and operational efficiency.
- Ensure the correct and consistent use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proven experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Valid forklift certification is preferred.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and logistics.
- Excellent knowledge of safety procedures and best practices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to required PPE protocols.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
