About

General Function

The Systems Administrator I will provide entry-level system support including, planning, deploying, troubleshooting and maintenance in all aspects of the infrastructure environment. The Systems Administrator I will be required to perform entry level to mid-level technical and administrative tasks. This candidate will be performing duties within the scope of Central Piedmont's policy and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensuring the security and efficiency of IT infrastructure
  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues
  • Collecting and analyzing data to forecast infrastructure system needs before issues arise
  • Identifying issues and implementing plans for remediation before the issues negatively impact the business.
  • Performing Active Directory Administration tasks
  • Performing Software Updates (Windows and other 3rd party software)
  • Installing and configuring software and hardware on physical and virtual systems
  • The ability to read and write instructions, see, hear, operate a computer, comprehend, and then carry out directives when instructed
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position
  • The ability to work on-site
  • Predictable, reliable, and prompt attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in IT or related field or higher
  • At least 2 years of experience in the Information Technology field
  • Industry certifications that demonstrate proficiency with Enterprise I.T. Infrastructure such as Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, etc.
  • Certifications relevant to the items in Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics are preferred.
  • ITIL Foundation certification is required (or should be obtained within 9 months of appointment).
Additional Information

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Proficient with Computer and Server Operating Systems in a virtual machine environment
  • Proficient with the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of virtual computer systems
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Windows Server Operating Systems
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Active Directory
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with storage, virtual machines or Cisco UCS equipment
  • Monitoring, working tickets in the ticketing system and seeing them through to completion
  • 'How to' documentation of Infrastructure procedures
  • Handling emergent issues as they arise
  • Server setup, deployment and maintenance
  • Windows workstation and server patching
  • Office 365 administration and maintenance
  • Storage Administration
  • VMWare Administration
  • Citrix Server Administration
  • Backup and Data Retention activities
    Assisting vendors and other 3rd parties with implementation of any professional service installations

Working Conditions:
This position is full-time.
Occasional after-hour and weekend support may be necessary.
