About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Android Engineer to join our dynamic team at Capital One. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and enhancing our Android mobile applications, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and user engagement. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including UX/UI designers, product managers, quality assurance, and fellow developers to deliver innovative mobile solutions that align with our strategic goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead major components of our mobile platform, influence technical direction, and mentor junior team members. Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of three years of professional software engineering experience is required, with at least two years dedicated to building Android applications. Proficiency in Kotlin is essential, with hands-on experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining Android apps. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of mobile development best practices, design patterns, and the Android ecosystem. Experience with third-party libraries, open-source frameworks, and Agile methodologies will be advantageous. Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for continuous learning are also key attributes for this position.
Responsibilities
- Develop robust Android client code solutions aligned with product strategy, adhering to established engineering standards, design guidelines, and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including UX/UI designers, quality engineers, product owners, and analysts to create engaging, purposeful, and intuitive user experiences.
- Participate actively in all agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives to ensure timely delivery of high-quality features.
- Advocate for the Android platform both internally and within external developer communities, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Stay current with emerging mobile technologies, frameworks, and tools, continuously enhancing technical expertise in Kotlin, third-party libraries, and related areas.
- Influence team discussions, provide constructive feedback, and incorporate team input to improve code quality and development processes.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and skill development.
- Engage with developers across disciplines such as iOS, web, and APIs to ensure seamless integration and cohesive platform development.
- Lead the delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and architectural teams.
- Share best practices, improve development workflows, and drive innovation within and across sprint teams.
- Identify potential technical obstacles early, propose creative solutions, and work collaboratively to resolve challenges efficiently.
- Review pull requests to ensure adherence to Kotlin idioms, coding standards, and overall quality.
