Title: Tax Program Intake Worker
Position: Temporary Full time (January to April 2026)
Department: Center for Family Life Adult Employment Program
Reports to: Program Director and Tax Program Manager
The Center for Family Life is seeking to hire Intake Workers for their VITA Tax program. These are full-time temporary positions for the tax season (January to April 2026).
Primary Function:
The Tax Program Intake Worker coordinates the tax clinic check-in process, ensures participants have all necessary paperwork for their tax appointment, and makes determinations to connect households with relevant community resources, providing one-on-one follow-up when necessary.
Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Screen and schedule interested participants according to tax needs
- Complete intake paperwork, create clients' folders, answer questions, and provide great customer service
- Have knowledge of public benefits and community resources. Is Team-oriented, able to work cooperatively with staff and volunteers
- Ability to abide by all confidentiality policies and procedures
- Attend basic tax-law training sessions and successfully attain basic IRS tax-law certification (Training and coaching are provided to ensure success)
- Assisting with other administrative duties, including meeting program goals and making phone calls, Data Entry on Excel spreadsheets
- Determine the type of assistance needed by the client and direct clients to other services provided at the site according to the client's needs
- Monitor Site customer traffic and coordinate with the Program Manager to ensure that there is sufficient time to serve the client
- Maintain the confidentiality of the client's information
- Provide general assistance to clients
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills
- High school diploma, some college preferred
- Must be Bilingual (Spanish/English/Other language capacity welcome)
- Knowledge of taxes and public benefits
- Must be comfortable working with a diverse population
- Friendly, dependable, and flexible
- Ability to complete tasks completely and accurately
- Must complete a brief training on tax laws
Salary/hours: $20.00 per hour, 35 to 40 hours per week, Monday to Saturday.
