History:

Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20 and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital. 

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

An Occupational Therapist is an individual licensed to perform examination, treatment or instructions specializing in techniques of activity re-education, especially for those patients who are disabled of weakened. The therapist provides instruction, support and supervision in assisting the patient to perform activities that fit both the disabilities and interests of the   patient. As a member of the   interdisciplinary team, the occupational therapist works collaboratively with   the other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of care. 

Requirements

Education:
Graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy association; or is eligible for the National Registration   Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association; or has achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiency examination conducted by the U.S. Public Health service, except that such determinations of proficiency do not apply with respect to persons initially licensed by a State seeking qualification as an occupational therapist after December 31,

Licenses/Certificates:
Must have a license to practice occupational therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy. Successful completion of an approved course in BLS upon hire and certification maintained throughout employment.  

Experience:
One (1) year experience as an Occupational Therapist in   a hospital or outpatient environment preferred.
