About the unit

6 and 8 Center at Butterworth Hospital are secure units with 20 private beds on each that specialize in Women and Infant Services, specifically postpartum care of Mother Baby couplets, after labor and delivery.  The excellent care provided by the 110 members of our Nursing and Support Team within Postpartum provides team members and patients with memories that last a lifetime.  We're here to guide parents through this transitional period, helping to provide education, and support every step of the way.  We even have Lactation Peer Counselors and Consultants available on our units to assist new mothers.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes. 

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing Required

• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years

• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required

• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 day

• 1+ year of RN experience preferred
