GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Sheltering Case Manager will work with moderate to high needs clients to support and guide them through an extended level of assistance in order to remove barriers and facilitate stable housing. The person in this position will perform eligibility screening, program enrollment, participant follow-ups, process required paperwork, data entry, and other program supports. This position will directly align with the Housing First initiatives of the ARCHES Project. The position is renewable annually based on continuation of project funding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Two years of related social service experience, direct client care; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ideal candidates will posses an advanced degree with two or more years of homeless service delivery experience and mental health certifications and or licensing.

CERTIFICATES, LISCENSE, REGISTRATIONS

  • Knowledge of/ or experience with: the principles or coordinated assessment, working with unsheltered or vulnerable populations, as well as best practices in homeless service delivery is preferred.
  • Basic Proficiencies in computers, MS Office products, database software, and web tools.
  • Must posses excellent planning, organization and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Frequently required to hear and speak.
  • Frequently lift up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling computers, devices, and office equipment.
  • Mobility within shelters and grounds and offices
  • Incidental driving tasks may be requested for employees with a personal vehicle and proof of current auto insurance.
  • Maintains calm disposition when clients or others may become de-escalation, applying crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques for all participants.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
  • Occasional outdoor environment including perimeter monitoring.
  • Occasional urgent situations requiring law enforcement involvement and/or paramedic professionals.
  • Close quarters, often with a client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or sever and persistent mental illness, and/or predictable behavior.
  • Exposure to trash, bodily fluids and malodorous air.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
