Tableau Developer

Roles/Responsibilities:

The consultants will perform the following activities:

1. Dashboard Design and Development

2. Development of approximately 11 tabs in a single dashboard:

3. 1 Overview page with a scorecard for performance on KPIs for the last 3 – 5 Years
4. Approximately 10 tabs with a similar layout that include performance across our 10 public Key Performance Indicators.
5. City Colleges Decision Support team will provide a PowerPoint version of the design to guide the structure and format, but the consultant will be responsible for architecting and developing user-friendly interactive dashboards for centralized data access
6. Designing intuitive navigation, filters, and customization options for end users

7. Implementing comprehensive self-service functionality that eliminates routine Decision Support requests about Key Performance Indicators

8. Data Integration and Automation

9. Connecting dashboards to institutional data systems for real-time or scheduled updates

10. Implementing automated data refreshes and validation procedures

11. Establishing proper data governance and security protocols in collaboration with CCC's Data Governance committee and Business Intelligence team.

12. Content Organization

13. Collaborating with Decision Support to standardize metrics definitions and calculation methodologies

14. Ensuring consistent data visualization practices across all dashboard components

15. Testing and Continuous Improvement

16. Conducting usability testing and gathering user feedback

17. Establishing a maintenance plan for long-term sustainability User Training and Documentation
18. Developing training materials and guides for end users and administrators

1. Technical Expertise
2. Advanced proficiency in Tableau Desktop, Prep and Cloud with demonstrated experience creating interactive dashboards, required
3. Experience in dashboard development, including interactive features and automated data pipelines
4. Strong knowledge of higher education data structures and common metrics
5. Ability to integrate Tableau with institutional data systems and databases including API and SharePoint lists.
6. Strong background in data visualization best practices and accessibility standards
7. Proficiency in SQL, ETL processes, and relevant programming languages
8. Collaboration & Communication Skills
9. Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across multiple departments
10. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate user needs into technical solutions
11. Experience creating clear documentation and training materials
12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
13. Preferred Experience & Certifications
14. Tableau dashboard development experience in a higher education environment
15. Previous work with community college data systems and metrics
