Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in implementing personalized care plans for patients across various settings such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health visits.
- Perform therapeutic interventions including trigger point therapy, therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities to promote healing and mobility.
- Monitor and document patient progress accurately, adjusting treatment strategies under supervision to meet individual recovery goals.
- Educate patients and their families on physiotherapy techniques, discharge instructions, and injury prevention strategies.
- Support discharge planning by coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless transitions of care.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards during all patient interactions.
- Keep detailed records of treatments provided, patient responses, and any changes in condition to ensure comprehensive documentation.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) in the state of practice.
- Proven experience working in inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health environments.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and physiotherapy techniques including trigger point therapy.
- Familiarity with care plans for diverse populations such as geriatrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, and acute care patients.
- Ability to work independently on a PRN basis while maintaining excellent communication with supervising therapists and healthcare teams.
- Prior experience with discharge planning processes and outpatient therapy services is highly desirable.
