Job Summary
The Machinist Apprentice will set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts for aircraft repair parts. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or various other projects, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. The Machinist will report to the Back Shop Department.

In This Role, You Will:
- Complete the Mechanic Apprentice Training Program
- Comply with the directions provided by the Machinist and above who is conducting the training.
- Repair, modify, and fabricate aircraft parts with the use of special tooling and ground support equipment following oral and/or written instructions such as supervisor's directives and manuals to complete all routine and non-routine assignments in a timely manner
- Maintain and store various tools in a serviceable condition.
- Adhere to safe maintenance practices and keep clean work area.
- Maintain and supply personal records of work performed on OJT forms for the Training Department.
- Successfully complete any courses deemed necessary by the Training Department.
- Perform any work that may be assigned by his or her supervisor.
What YOU need
- Ability to comprehend and acquire skills
- Knowledge of all aspects machining, fabricating of all types of metal parts using manual mills and lathes and characteristics of metals, safety procedures, operation of mills, lathes, drill press, horizontal and vertical saws.
- Basic knowledge of all aircraft manuals and related materials, ATA codes, and applicable F.A.R.'s.
- Familiar with company policies and procedures and all paperwork procedures including job cards/time cards, routine/non-routine cards, AMM's, service bulletins, work sign-off/sell-off procedures.
- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. A&P License desired or specialized training.
- Experience: One year minimum experience/training machining.
