Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, solutions-driven Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the safe, reliability, and efficient operation of our facilities. This role is primarily technical and execution-focused, responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining building systems and equipment across multiple sites.
The ideal candidate is proactive, mechanically inclined, and service-oriented—someone who takes pride in resolving issues efficiently, supporting production and lab teams, and contributing practical insight toward preventative maintenance and long-term equipment reliability without formal management responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
(Include, but are not limited to)
- Perform day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, doors, and general building infrastructure.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify safety concerns, wear, or potential failures and address them before they impact operations.
- Maintain, repair, and assemble equipment, machinery, and facility fixtures as needed.
- Support basic maintenance and adjustment of processing and packaging equipment; familiarity with GMP/HACCP environments is beneficial.
- Work directly with production and lab teams to respond to equipment and facility needs in a timely, service-focused manner.
- Respond to maintenance requests through the CMMS and in person, maintaining clear communication and follow-through.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities to reduce downtime and extend equipment life, using practical judgment and field experience.
- Assist with waste handling activities including pallets, recycling, and bulk trash coordination.
- Track and restock tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies; enter work orders, notes, and completion details into the CMMS.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or services when required.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, inspections, and equipment service history.
- Apply mechanical aptitude to pumps, mixers, conveyors, and similar equipment as part of routine maintenance and repairs.
- Follow all safety, health, and environmental requirements across all facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of facilities, maintenance, or related hands-on technical experience
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly between multiple work sites
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and basic carpentry systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, detail-oriented approach
- Comfortable working independently and managing daily task priorities
- Basic computer skills, including experience using a CMMS or work order system
- Professional, approachable communication style when interacting with staff and vendors
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food, flavor, beverage, or regulated manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with GMP and HACCP requirements
- Hands-on experience with pumps, mixers, conveyors, or similar production equipment
- OSHA, forklift, or equipment-related certifications
- Basic welding, fabrication, or automation exposure
- Ability to identify recurring maintenance issues and suggest practical preventative improvements
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work performed in manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, and office settings
- Exposure to moving machinery, noise, varying temperatures, and production environments
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in confined or elevated spaces
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Strategic mindset with the ability to identify trends and recommend long-term maintenance improvements
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Frequent travel between facilities
