As a technical leader, you will own the software design and development for major components and features of the Object Storage Service. You should be a strong programmer and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Responsibilities
As a Principal Member of Technical Staff, you will be called upon to lead major projects and have significant participation in design and architecture. You will be expected to act as a technical leader on your team and demonstrate core values for other more junior engineers. You should be both a rock-solid coder and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

To succeed with these responsibilities will require:

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 10-15+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
• Storage knowledge is a plus.
• Cloud experience is a plus.
• Proven experience with a major Object Oriented Programming language such as Java or C++.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Very strong knowledge of databases, storage and distributed persistence technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
