Security Officer

Deseret Cattle & Citrus is seeking a Security Officer to manage and execute the ranch's security program to ensure the safety of property, personnel, and livestock. This role oversees perimeter security, access control, incident response, and coordination with emergency services. The Security Officer enforces ranch policies to prevent trespassing, theft, and livestock loss. The position requires strong situational awareness, physical capability to operate in rural environments, and the ability to respond effectively to security and safety incidents.

• Oversee and continuously improve the ranch's security program.
• Serve as the primary contact for emergency responders and coordinate with local law enforcement and fire departments.
• Monitor and manage all entry and exit gates, verifying credentials and ensuring only authorized access.
• Conduct regular patrols of the ranch grounds, facilities, and perimeter fencing to prevent trespassing and ensure livestock safety.
• Identify and report any potential security risks, hazards, or suspicious activity.
• Respond promptly to incidents involving lost or loose cattle, coordinating with ranch staff to resolve issues.
• Maintain detailed logs and reports of gate access, patrols, inspections and incidents.
• Provide assistance to visitors, vendors, and staff while enforcing ranch policies and safety rules.
• Operate and maintain security equipment including surveillance cameras, lighting systems and cattle guards.
• Participate in the ranch safety committee.
• Assist with safety incident investigations.
• Assist visitors, vendors, and staff while enforcing ranch policies and safety protocols.
• Support emergency preparedness planning and drills.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; FDACS Class "D" Security Guard License required.
• Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or ranch operations preferred.
• First Aid/CPR certification a plus
• Emergency Response or Incident Command System (ICS) training.
• Strong observational and situational awareness skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Physically capable of patrolling large outdoor areas and assisting with livestock.
• Familiarity with rural/agricultural environments and livestock care is beneficial.
• Basic proficiency with security systems and incident reporting tools.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
