Optometric Technician

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the optometric practice. You will assist with various clinical tasks, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of service and care during their visits. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist optometrists in performing eye examinations and procedures.
• Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception assessments.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Manage patient flow and provide exceptional customer service throughout their visit.
• Handle retail math for eyewear sales and assist patients in selecting frames and lenses.
• Process medical billing and insurance claims using systems like Epic.
• Educate patients on proper eye care practices and post-examination instructions.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms and equipment.

Experience

• Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a similar healthcare role is preferred.
• Knowledge of retail math, medical billing processes, and HIPAA compliance is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
• Strong understanding of anatomy related to the eye and ophthalmology practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and satisfaction.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
