R&D Extrusion Operator

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Supervisor and/or Lead, the R&D Extrusion Machine Operator will be responsible for all aspects of the setup and operation of the Line. The Extrusion Operator will also be responsible for the cleaning and changeovers.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• Ability to independently operate R & D extruder including temperature settings and downstream equipment
• Monitor production and adjust machines as needed.
• Drive a forklift to move material.
• Prepare pre-mix for extrusion machine
• Basic Maintenance i.e. changing and cleaning of filters and Cleaning and Extruder Screw Cleaning.
• Perform duties in a timely manner according to established standards
• Keep track of in-process inventory.
• Complete and maintain necessary paperwork.
• Maintain housekeeping and clean work area. (6S)
• Maintain level of quality consistent with established standards.
• Comply with established safety rules.
• Comply with company policy, procedures and standard operating work instructions.
• Maintain constructive working relationships with co-workers, lead and supervisors/managers.
• Perform other duties as assigned to the satisfaction of supervisor and/or lead.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• At least 1 year of experience with extrusion process
• At least 1 year of related experience, preferably within the plastics or automotive industry
• Must not be afraid of heights
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to enter Production Data into computer monitoring system

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma/GED required

• Previous manufacturing experience
