Job Title: Material Handler I
Location: Colorado Springs, CO 80915
Duration: 6 Months Contract (Likely to convert to Full-Time based on performance)
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Overtime available as needed)
Requirement: Forklift experience – minimum 2+ years required
Position Summary
The Material Handler I is responsible for maintaining the efficient movement of incoming and outgoing materials throughout the facility while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Core Responsibilities
· Follow all company policies and guidelines related to workplace safety, quality, and housekeeping
· Read and interpret production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, and requisitions
· Move materials from receiving or production areas to storage or designated locations
· Sort and store materials on racks, shelves, or bins according to size, type, style, color, or product code
· Pick, fill, and distribute materials for work orders and production requests
· Assemble customer orders from inventory and stage on pallets
· Label and mark materials with appropriate identifying information
· Open bales, crates, and containers as required
· Record quantities of materials received, stored, or distributed
· Weigh and count items to ensure compliance with company standards
· Enter inventory and transaction data using warehouse computer systems
· Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport materials
· Load and unload trailers containing palletized and non-palletized products
· Utilize both manual and automated material handling equipment
· Maintain proper safety, hygiene, and personal protective practices
· Support internal and external customer requirements and expectations
· Contribute to overall departmental and organizational performance
· Perform additional duties as assigned
Knowledge and Experience
· 1–3 years of material handling or warehouse experience
· Minimum 2 years of forklift operation experience (required)
· Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management
· Ability to read and process information using warehouse computer systems
· Prior relevant warehouse or manufacturing experience preferred
Physical Requirements
· Ability to sit, stand, hear, and see continuously
· Ability to walk, write, and type frequently
· Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
· Occasional lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs
· Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and carry frequently
· Ability to climb and descend stairs
· Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
· Ability to operate a computer and communicate via telephone
Work Environment
· May work indoors and outdoors as required
· Exposure to temperatures ranging from 0°F to 120°F
· May be exposed to noise requiring hearing protection
· Possible exposure to dust and dirt
· Work surfaces may include concrete flooring
Education Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalent (required)
