About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Engineer to join our Operations & Technology business segment. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining next-generation data pipelines and applications. Your primary focus will be on building scalable, reliable, and efficient data systems that support the development and deployment of large language models (LLMs) and AI-driven solutions. You will work in a dynamic environment, leveraging emerging technologies such as generative AI, vector databases, and cloud-native data engineering tools.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including data scientists, visualization experts, and business stakeholders—you will translate complex data requirements into robust technical solutions. Your expertise will help define the strategic direction for our data infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration, performance optimization, and security across all platforms. Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in a data engineering role, with a proven track record of leading data engineering teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of GenAI technologies, including LLMs, vector databases, and AI-driven data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with the development ecosystem surrounding LLM integration, such as langchain.
  • Proficiency in designing data models, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing principles.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Hands-on experience building data pipelines using Python, SQL, or similar programming languages.
  • Understanding of REST APIs, vectorized embeddings, and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) workloads.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies like Spark, Hive, or similar stacks is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud data engineering design patterns and migration from on-premises to cloud environments is desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborative teamwork across diverse groups.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and scale data pipelines across multiple source systems, including internal, third-party, and cloud-based data streams.
  • Implement best practices in machine learning, including feature engineering, model training, and serving, with a focus on deep learning and optimization algorithms.
  • Develop data models, warehousing solutions, and architecture principles to support scalable analytics and AI applications.
  • Optimize data pipelines for performance, cost-efficiency, security, and end-user experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and develop efficient data acquisition and integration strategies.
  • Interface with engineering teams to extract, load, and transform data from diverse sources, adhering to cloud-native data engineering principles.
  • Become a subject matter expert in data engineering technologies, guiding best practices and innovation.
  • Mentor and coach team members to build scalable, maintainable data pipelines based on foundational principles.
  • Participate in agile development cycles, including sprints, demos, and retrospectives, ensuring continuous delivery and improvement.
  • Manage relationships with supporting engineering teams to ensure smooth deployment and production support.
  • Work closely with data scientists, business analysts, and machine learning infrastructure teams to bridge technical and business needs.
  • Create comprehensive documentation to facilitate understanding and adoption of data products by developers and business users.
  • Deploy solutions on cloud platforms, troubleshoot issues, and optimize applications for performance and reliability.
  • Leverage automation tools for code and test generation to accelerate feature delivery and maintain high-quality standards.
