Reports To: Vice President

Salary: $115,000 annually

As we continue to expand, we're looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to help us scale with purpose.SummaryThis role is key to supporting our workforce and driving company growth. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Source, screen and hire qualified field and administrative staff.
  • Verify certifications (e.g., asbestos, lead, mold remediation, HAZWOPER).
  • Conduct background checks, drug testing and onboarding orientation.

2. Training & Certification Management

  • Coordinate OSHA, MIOSHA and EPA-mandated training.
  • Maintain training records and ensure timely recertification.
  • Schedule respirator fit testing and medical evaluations.

3. Health & Safety Compliance

  • Collaborate with safety officers to implement and enforce safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA and EGLE requirements as well as state and local labor laws.
  • Maintain exposure records and support job hazard analysis (JHA) processes.
  • Manage drug and alcohol testing program in accordance with DOT and company policy.
  • Coordinate with safety officers on incident investigations and workers' compensation claims.

4. Policy Development & Enforcement

  • Develop and update HR policies and employee handbooks.
  • Enforce disciplinary procedures and manage employee relations.
  • Ensure compliance with prevailing wage and labor standards.

5. Recordkeeping & Documentation

  • Maintain personnel files, training logs, medical surveillance records and OSHA/MIOSHA documentation.
  • Track certifications, licenses and medical surveillance records.
  • Implement and maintain HR software solutions.

6. Compensation & Benefits

  • Administer payroll and benefits programs.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws.
  • Conduct market research to ensure competitive compensation for all employees.

7. Employee Relations

  • Serve as a liaison between field staff and management.
  • Address employee relation issues, grievances and disciplinary actions.
  • Promote a culture of safety, respect and accountability.
  • Conduct exit interviews and employee engagement surveys to analyze data.
  • Ensure compliance with FLSA, FMLA, ADA and other employment laws.
  • Manage performance review process and succession planning.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
  • 5+ years of HR experience in construction, environmental services or related industry.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA and labor law compliance.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Proficient with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with workers' compensation and prevailing wage requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Office-based with occasional site visits to active abatement or demolition projects. Must be comfortable working in a safety-sensitive, regulated industry.

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive base salary of $115,000 annually.
