About
Engineering Manager, Platform Infrastructure
This role offers the chance to lead the evolution of a modern platform that supports large scale product development. You will guide a newly formed team responsible for a Kubernetes powered platform as a service, shaping the systems and tooling that enable engineering teams to deploy, operate, and scale their applications with clarity and efficiency. This position blends technical leadership with strategic planning and people development.
About The Role
You will serve as a hands on leader who helps define the direction of a core platform. Your work will influence how services run across the organization and will contribute to a consistent and intuitive developer experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building infrastructure capabilities, developing engineering talent, and collaborating across multiple functional groups.
How You Will Make a Difference
- Act as a player coach by contributing to critical projects while mentoring engineers and supporting their professional growth.
- Lead a remote team of three to five platform engineers and help them set clear goals aligned with broader organizational objectives.
- Help team members understand how their work fits into the larger platform strategy and support them in shaping thoughtful development plans.
- Recruit, hire, and develop platform engineers while elevating the overall strength of the team.
- Guide project planning by defining milestones, identifying dependencies, and working toward timely and meaningful delivery.
- Participate in deep architectural discussions and review implementation plans to ensure high quality system design.
- Contribute to improving engineering wide practices such as recruitment processes, onboarding experiences, performance evaluation, communication approaches, and technical ownership models.
Who You Are
- Experienced in leading multi quarter infrastructure initiatives that center on Kubernetes based platforms and involve meaningful collaboration with partner teams.
- Comfortable coaching and developing platform engineers or site reliability engineers.
- Capable of designing and implementing processes that improve engineering workflows across the organization.
- Focused on delivering a smooth and reliable developer experience for internal engineering teams.
- Technically skilled in areas such as Kubernetes orchestration, cloud native architectures, infrastructure as code, and the observability, security, and networking considerations of containerized environments.
- Interested in exploring responsible uses of emerging AI tools to improve engineering operations, decision making, and overall productivity.
This position is well suited for a leader who enjoys shaping foundational infrastructure, building engaged and effective teams, and helping engineers deliver software with consistency and confidence.
