Job Summary
LATCH is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance to support the Department of State mission for the engineering, implementation, and sustainment of encrypted, classified network environments that protect U.S. national security communications. The ideal candidate brings deep experience designing and operating secure networks in high-security federal environments and serves as a senior technical resource to government stakeholders. This role directly supports LATCH's core capabilities in classified infrastructure and secure communications work.
Responsibilities and Duties
Job responsibilities and duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design, implement, and maintain secure WAN/LAN architectures supporting classified and encrypted communications environments.
- Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot encryption technologies, including Type 1 cryptographic devices, IPsec, and VPN solutions.
- Ensure network designs comply with Department of State, NSA, CNSS, and other applicable federal security standards.
- Perform risk assessments and implement technical and procedural controls to protect classified systems and data.
- Support continuous monitoring, incident response, and remediation activities related to network security and availability.
- Develop and maintain network diagrams, configuration baselines, and technical documentation.
- Serve as a senior technical advisor on secure communications, encryption integration, and emerging cyber threats.
- Apply COMSEC best practices for the handling, accountability, and protection of cryptographic materials and devices.
Required Qualifications and Skills
The selected candidate must have the following qualifications and skills:
- Active TS/SCI clearance (required at time of hire).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in network engineering, including classified or high-security environments.
- Strong expertise in secure network design, routing, switching, and network hardening.
- Demonstrated experience integrating encryption technologies into enterprise network architectures.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network and security issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.
Desired Qualifications and Skills
It is desirable that the candidate has the following qualifications and skills:
- Experience supporting the Department of State or similar federal civilian or defense agencies.
- Familiarity with NSA-approved encryption systems and classified communications standards.
- Experience implementing or supporting security controls aligned with NIST or CNSSI frameworks.
Bonus Points For
Not required or needed, but these are the items that would help us choose between two equally top-ranked candidates:
- Hands-on COMSEC experience, including key management and controlled cryptographic item (CCI) handling.
- Professional certifications such as CCNP, CISSP, CEH, or equivalent.
Required Experience
- 7+ years of industry experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Required Clearance
- Active TS/SCI clearance (required at time of hire).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $145, $160,000.00 per year
