JOB TITLE: Licensed Clinician
JOB CLASS: Exempt
HOURS of WORK: 40 per week
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Full‑time position providing overall clinical oversight of all Texas Care behavioral health programs, staff, clinical policy development, quality improvement, assurance, staff competencies. Clinical services are required to include, but not limited to, clinical assessments, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention. Some travel will be required at times when needed.
WORK ACTIVITIES:
Ensures that the most effective treatment approaches are utilized; developing new models of treatment.
- Monitors regulatory and clinical standards; productivity and quality assurance efforts, meet contractual reporting requirements and performance standards.
- Updates, maintains and complies with Texas Cares policies and procedures as it relates to all clinical program operations.
- Oversees clinical supervision of Behavioral Health Staff, Outpatient Licensed Therapists, training, and ongoing education.
- Provides guidance, clinical supervision, and oversight of unlicensed Behavioral Health staff to ensure compliance and clinical guidelines are followed.
- Conducts routine treatment team meetings.
- Performs clinical assessments.
- Provides clinical support for crisis intervention services.
- Capable of appropriate independent judgment to determine appropriate course of action in resolving problems and in emergencies.
- Facilitates critical incident reviews and staff debriefings.
- Organize and provide outreach activities within the community to assist with marketing and gaining referral agencies.
- Oversees certification site visit preparation, and program audit visits and reports.
- Prepares and maintains documentation, records and reports in accordance with clinic, state, and rules and regulations on the Electronic Health Record.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of the etiology of serious mental illness, developmental, and
substance abuse disorders and their treatment by a variety of appropriate therapeutic interventions; risk assessment and crisis intervention; and knowledge of community resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Clinical Experience: Significant experience providing direct clinical services in a behavioral health setting specifically Mental Health Rehabilitation and Targeted Case Management Services.
- Licensure: Current licensure as a clinical psychologist, licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), licensed professional counselor (LPC), or other relevant licensure.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to supervise and support a diverse team of clinical professionals.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Problem‑Solving Abilities: Strong problem‑solving abilities with the capacity to address complex clinical and administrative issues.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for clients.
- Commitment to Diversity: Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical practice and program development.
- Ethical Standards: Adherence to ethical standards and professional guidelines in the provision of clinical services.
- Flexibility: Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of clients and the organization.
- Education: Master's or doctoral degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Interest in working with diverse populations and learning about culture and various forms of culturally appropriate interventions.
Physical Demands:
Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to lift up to and in excess of 25 pounds throughout the workday. Sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during working hours.
Working environment:
Works in well lighted/ventilated areas. Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc. Able to learn to work with culturally diverse staff with culturally different styles of communication.
