Quality NDT Inspector
Location: Boston Area ( multiple locations in Boston & Ivy City)
Contract Duration: 2 months ( possible monthly extensions)
Schedule: Full-time, 5 days/week .
Role Overview
The Inspector will perform visual and non-destructive inspections (NDT) on Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (FRP) components and other train parts, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This role requires close coordination with Alstom representatives to meet operational priorities and minimize service disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual and NDT inspections on FRP and other components per defined standards.
- Record inspection results in control plans and ERP systems, assessing compliance and acceptability.
- Provide detailed inspection reports including defect characterization, classification, and photographic evidence.
- Alert stakeholders immediately on critical defects and new defect typologies.
- Collaborate with Alstom Quality and Maintenance teams to prioritize inspections and meet daily targets.
- Maintain calibration integrity of inspection tools and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Deliverables
- Inspection Coordination: Schedule inspections based on train availability; complete within allocated lead time.
- Inspection Reporting: Submit systematic reports with defect details, photos, and compliance assessments.
- Status Updates: Provide daily progress reports and manage non-conformity documentation in ERP.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure all activities align with Alstom's quality processes and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Technical/Vocational training in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or NDT.
- Certifications:
- ASNT Level II or III in Ultrasonic Testing, Visual Testing.
- ISO 9712 certification for composites.
- Experience:
- 2–3 years hands-on experience in NDT or structural inspection of composite materials (FRP).
- Advanced NDT methods (UT, Acoustic Emission, Thermography).
- Previous work in railway industry or rolling stock maintenance.
- Knowledge of rail safety standards (EN 12663, EN
- Familiarity with FRP repair procedures.
Pay: $ $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
