Principal Engineer
Compa Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Principal Engineer position at the Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC.

Work Schedule: Up to 40-hour work week (5/8s, 4/10s, or 9/80s)
Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance

Candidates must demonstrate ten (10) years of recent safeguards and security design experience with an emphasis in physical security design.
Applications will not be considered without:
- Prior knowledge of standard physical security system components (e.g., sensors, cameras, card readers, network switches)
- A BS in Electrical Engineering or PE license in Electrical Engineering
- Ability to perform field walkdowns including construction sites, uneven surfaces, and dressing in protective gear
Impact
This position plays a critical role in providing engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. The engineer will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of critical security systems across various DOE facilities, impacting national security and safety infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges involving unique or controversial problems.
- Apply technical experience to resolve complex problems and incorporate advanced technical practices.
- Provide leadership and guidance in solving complex problems and recognize expertise in functional areas.
- Evaluate programs and prepare reports with recommendations.
- Keep informed of technological advancements in relevant areas.
- Prepare plans, monitor progress, and manage budgets for technical tasks.
- Communicate results to customers, colleagues, and management.
- Occasionally prepare reports for external publication.
- Provide leadership in technical societies and demonstrate creative abilities through various technical mediums.
- Provide design engineering support for systems including intrusion detection, CCTV, access control, perimeter security, alarm monitoring, and control stations.
- Follow SRNS processes and procedures for all engineering services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
- Ph.D. in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience
- OR MS with 8+ years' experience
- OR BS with 10+ years' experience or more
- Experience must include:
- 10 years of safeguards and security design with physical security system emphasis
- Knowledge of components such as sensors, door hardware, cameras, infrared detectors, card readers, fiber optic routers
- Ability to perform detailed walk-downs in active construction or secure environments
- Ability to produce high-quality technical documents with attention to detail
- Knowledge in application of NEC code requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE "Q" clearance
Desired Skills
- Previous experience with SRS Design Engineering or DOE facility design
- Experience with DOE's Electronic Safeguards and Security System (E3S) and Argus
- Proficiency in MicroStation 2D CADD
- Experience in fiber optic cable systems and remote monitoring
Education and Experience Requirements
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years recent experience in physical security design
