TYD is a nonprofit organization that aims to equip Pima County youth to gain employment, achieve self-sufficiency and reach career potential through education and training . We are seeking a full-time Van Driver to support our overall mission, focusing on the mission of our Schools- Alternative, rigorous, technology-enhanced instruction for "at-risk" youth leading to graduation and preparation for success beyond graduation .
Work hours: Monday-Friday, 7:15 am–10:15am and 2:00pm-5:00pm M/Tu/Th/Fr; 1:00-4:00 Wednesday. 30 hours per week.
Overview:
The Van Driver works during the school year, from August to May, to ensure students are transported to and from school, field trips, and other TYD/school activities. This is an hourly position that is employed during the school year only, from August to May.
Job Duties:
- Ensures students are transported to and from school, field trips, and other TYD activities.
- Reviews the van's condition before driving to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition.
- Report repairs and add fluids such as gas, oil, and water as needed.
- Cleans the vehicle's interior, including wiping down seats and cleaning windows.
- Ensures the exterior of the vehicle is clean.
- Prepares student conduct reports as needed.
- Maintaining a daily mileage log includes regular and extra-duty activity routes.
- Communicates with school personnel as required, such as Principals, Teachers, and Teacher Assistants.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a Driver or similar role.
- Valid Arizona driver's license with insurance coverage of 100,000/300,000 liability.
- Clean driving records for the prior three years (no at-fault accidents, no arrest on charges of violating vehicle and traffic laws.)
- Must possess/ be able to obtain a Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- High School Diploma/ GED
- Bilingual (English/Spanish). The ability to read and write Spanish – preferred
Knowledge of:
- Safe driving practices and techniques
- Basic first aid practices, procedures, and techniques
Ability to:
- Drive student transportation equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain appropriate student behavior in a vehicle
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
