Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International Position Description

POSITION: Coordinator, Association Services

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Association Services

POSITION STATUS: Exempt

The Coordinator Association Services will be responsible for implementing tactics to promote and engage membership—including direct membership categories—and support local associations in a federated association. This position involves interaction with a dynamic team and across internal departments, as well as with BOMA local association staff and volunteer leadership, Qualified candidates should have at least 1 year of experience in the membership or chapter/component relations department of a trade association or professional society or related experience. (Experience working within a federated association structure a plus.) They must have excellent communications and relationship-building skills, be detail-oriented, possess strong customer service skills and have a demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments and projects simultaneously and work independently in a fast-paced environment.


• Association Services Management:

  • Establish robust working relationships with BOMA local association staff and volunteer leadership to provide support in marketing and membership needs, reporting, training, and onboarding of key stakeholders.

  • Manage and distribute monthly invoices for our local associations.

  • Assist in disseminating materials, guides, and other collateral to assist BOMA and its federated local associations across the United States with membership recruitment and retention efforts.

  • Assist in Member-At-Large and National Associate Members outreach and expansion.


• Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with other departments, committees, and key stakeholders to align membership retention and growth with broader organizational initiatives.

  • Foster collaboration and engagement within the association's community to ensure effective program implementation and member satisfaction.

  • Support BOMA International's Recognition Programs by maintaining program data and reports, assisting with communications and events, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.

  • Provide responsive member and applicant support through effective communication, issue resolution, and process coordination, contributing to a seamless and positive experience for participants and stakeholders.


• Communication and Promotion:

  • Assist in developing communication strategies to promote membership programs and services to the association's members.

  • Utilize various channels, such as newsletters, websites, and social media, to raise awareness and encourage participation.


• Data Analysis and Evaluation:

  • Collect and analyze data related to the impact and effectiveness of recognition programs and association services.

  • Use insights to make data-driven decisions, refine programs, and enhance service offerings.


• Compliance and Governance:

  • Ensure that membership programs comply with relevant regulations and adhere to the association's governance structure.


• Continuous Improvement:

  • Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance the quality and impact of recognition programs and services over time.


• Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.

Qualifications:

o Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

o Minimum one year of business development, engagement experience and member services.

o Prior experience in developing and managing membership programs within an association or similar organization.

o Highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs.

o Past experience with Salesforce or other Association Management Software

o Demonstrates a proactive, solutions-oriented approach and consistently maintains a positive outlook.

Salary Range: ($45,000.00 to $55,000.00 annually) + benefits

BOMA International is comprised of passionate team members who do great work for our members each day, while still finding opportunities to have fun and support one another. You will travel a small number of times each year to BOMA International conference and regional events and conferences.

We will be continuing to operate in a hybrid work schedule where you come into our Downtown DC (walking distance from the McPherson Square Metro) offices three days per week while working from home two days per week. Because of the members we represent, only DC candidates, or candidates willing to relocate the DC area will be considered.
